i read your e-mail.

I own and frequently wear a t-shirt with 'i read your e-mail.' printed in bold white text on a dichotomous all black background. I wear it because I can indoctrinate others when they ask... "What does that mean?", "My e-mail?".

I have explained the concept of E-MAIL BEING AN INSECURE MESSAGING METHOD to nearly 100 people ... maybe more. If the person is bold enough to inquire they are also generally interested in what I have to say ... e-mail is almost as public as this blog.

I want you all to know this: 'i' is relative. 'i' could be your boss, your IT department, the recipients boss, a cracker who has broken into an ISP's mail server, the person sitting at the intended recipients desk and probably that carnival ride guy down the road, too.

My exaggeration in this matter is satirically poignant. Keep sending your e-mail. Keep sending all of your love, your personal and your financial matters via postcard. Yes ... I liken e-mail to a postcard.

A postcard that the world seems to believe is sent in a tiny digital privacy shell.
