Boarder Stupidity

Starting 2008, you'll need a passport to get back into the US after visiting Canada.

Windsor, is probably hosed.

This is supposed to be for 'security' (but of course, the 9/11 hijackers all had valid ID).

I doubt that this will actually improve security, it will just hurt businesses in boarder cities (Detroit and Windsor) and make it more annoying for people driving back and forth.

Oh well.

That is only for those who WANT (or have) to get back in ... ;)

Ok, back to my giant duct tape house ...

The duct tape and plastic will keep you safe from the terrorists.

When will they remember that prior to 11 September the heavyweight Terrorist Champion of the U.S. was a white, Christian, ex-Army-of-One from New York?

Never.

It's not that they don't remember it. It's that it's easy to pass legislation that they already wanted under the banner of security.

Remember, the republican party is currently the party of rabid anti-immigration.

(Also remember, that an open boarders policy with respect to immigration would probably fix many of the problems we currently have with illegals [poverty, poor working conditions, exploitation] and would also shore up social security and medicare/medicaid).

One of these days I'll remember that our leaders are selected for their ability to get selected, rather than their ability to lead.
